A few sentences can be notes and examples, which would make the wording easier to parse.

  • p2's e.g. can be an example.
  • p4's last sentence can be a note.

Turning p4 into a note has the problem that a note cannot contain "may". Also, I think the additional normative clarification here is worthwhile.

Agreed with the p2 suggestion.
